How to choose a snow removal and how do they differ?

The owners of country houses are not always happy with the onset of winter, because the first snow means that you need to take a shovel and go to clean the tracks. It may seem entertaining and even useful to someone – after all, exercise. But usually by the middle of winter, there is no trace of a positive attitude, and entertainment becomes a routine that threatens to calluses and muscle pain. If you are familiar with this situation, then you should think about buying a snowthrower.

Main characteristics of snow removal equipment

Snow Removal Equipment

Like any other equipment designed to work outdoors, snow combine harvesters have a number of advantages over manual tools.

  • Intense in service;
  • Do not require frequent repairs (with proper maintenance);

Most importantly, they are easy to operate, reliable and highly efficient.

What the snow blower consists of and how it works

Snow Removal

A manual snowblower is a steel frame with wheels and attachments that collects precipitation and throws in the right direction. In all models, the cleaning of snow drifts is carried out by screw-type augers, but the discharge function may differ depending on the declared capacity.

In low-power mechanisms, all actions are performed by the auger – (single-stage system), for example, Huter SGC 2000E. And in snow machines with medium and high power, the rotor performs the snow throwing function. Such a two-stage system is equipped with Craftsman 88172 and Huter SGC 8100C.

The snow removal mechanism consists of such components:

  • rotating friezes;
  • bucket;
  • track or wheel drive;
  • chutes for the accumulation and discharge of snow;
  • lighting headlamps;
  • fuel tank or electric drive;
  • handles, at the top of which is located the control unit;
  • handles.

Advantages and disadvantages of self-propelled and non-self-propelled snow blowers

Depending on the method of transportation, there are two types of snowplows, which differ from each other in many ways.

Not self-propelled

Non-self-propelled combines are controlled manually, that is, driven by pushing force. Adjustment of the direction and distance of emission (no more than 10 m) also should be carried out independently, turning the handle attached to a rotor. The performance of such snow removal equipment depends on the condition of the snow carpet, if it is thick and wet, you will have to exert considerable physical strength to clean it.

The advantages include:

  • low weight (up to 40 kg);
  • rubberized lumps of metal augers, which prolongs the life of the friezes and prevents damage to smooth brittle surfaces.

Self-propelled

Driven by a wheeled or tracked drive. If the surface of the area to be cleaned is flat, you should give preference to tracked vehicles, and if on the contrary, meandering, and even covered with vegetation, it is better to choose the unit on wheels.

Self-propelled snow blowers have a lot of advantages:

  • are equipped with a separate snow catching system, which makes it possible to discard snow masses for a considerable distance (14-18 m) and crush even tightly compiled drifts with special teeth;
  • have an automated speed control system;
  • they are started not only with the help of a cord but also from an electric starter powered from a side battery.

So, to choose a reliable snow plow you first need to decide on the price/quality ratio, understand how much work will be done with it, and how often we will have to use it. Having studied the popular brands and reviews, we can say that the aggregates of the companies Honda, Husqvarna, Champion, Patriot, Huter, Stiga, MTD, Hyundai, Prorab are popular and in demand. Having decided on the type of engine, power and functionality of snow plows, among the model range of these companies, we select the option that suits the needs and the wallet.
